APA Style Dissertation

What is the main objective in using citation styles to write a dissertation paper? The main reason why you need to cite your resources is to make sure that you credit the writers of those materials. It is important that you do this so you can increase the value of your research paper. If you will present the sources of your info, you are telling the readers that you have acquired credible research info. Moreover, citation will prevent any possible plagiarism offenses. Today, we will talk about writing APA style dissertation paper.

Many writers choose the APA style dissertation format because it simple to apply to a research paper. However, even the MLA, Harvard, Chicago and Turabian styles are all easy to use. As long as you know how to cite sources of info and follow the instructions of these styles, you will get the hang of it. However, let us concentrate on the APA format. The first thing that you need to know is to format the dissertation paper. In APA style, you can do the cover page formatting by writing all the details in the center position. The title is at the top, your name at the middle and class details at the bottom of the page.

When it comes to pagination, the procedure is even simpler. You only need to put the title of your dissertation at the upper right hand corner of each page. Then you can type the corresponding page number per page. If you have a long title, simply compress the main idea of the title and use the main keywords. Then apply once again the page number count.

The next concept of citation is in-text citation. In APA style dissertation papers, you can directly copy a material’s content and integrate it into your paper. You can copy a whole phrase or sentence from another document. This way, you can tell your readers that you are referring to another person’s work to establish your research claim. Of course, you will commit plagiarism if you will not do the in-text citation procedure. Once you have integrated the detail into your paper, enclose the entire part in quotation marks. This will signify that it is not an original idea from you. Then after the closing mark, write the author’s last name together with the publication year. Enclose these two info in parentheses. It should look something like this: “……” (Webster 1991)

One more concept in citation is the creation of the bibliography page. This is a list of all the materials that you used for the research paper. You will create a list of these resources. Per entry, you need to write the reference material’s author, publication year, title of the material, publishing company, city of publication and sometimes you need to pr the page and edition numbers. Arrange the entries in alphabetical order and this will end writing the APA style dissertation project.
