Dissertation Format – Citation
What are the different dissertation formats available for students? Let us take a look at the two most commonly utilized citation formats that dissertation writers tend to use.
APA
The APA stands for American Psychological Association. This type of citation format employs the use of pagination, in-text citation and bibliography page. Usually, how to write a dissertation involves the creation of citation systems for the student to follow. An APA dissertation format paper requires that you put the title of your work before the number of each page. You will input this detail at the upper right hand corner of each page in the document. When it comes to in-text citation, the last name of the author of your reference work together with the year of publication should be put at the end of the phrase that you have used. This is enclosed in a parenthesis. For the bibliography page, you need to put the author’s name, the date of publication, the title of his work and the source of your document. A sample research proposal in this citation format is ideal as a reference.
MLA
Modern Language Association is the meaning of MLA. This dissertation format has the same characteristics as the APA in terms of bibliography page only that sometimes, you need to put the city of publication as well as the publishing company. In the aspect of pagination, you must write your last name before each page number. For the in-text citation, the last name of the author and the page number of his work is included in a parenthesis.
