These are the cover page, table of contents, abstract (usually in a single page of 500 words maximum).
On the other hand, those that are non-limited pages are actually the main chapters of the dissertation paper. These are the Introduction, methodology, literature review, data and analysis, results and discussion and conclusion. Add to that the bibliography page that will depend on the number of entries in your cited resources’ list. You can write as many pages as you like when you write any of these chapters. Therefore, the dissertation length will be influenced as well.
Are there any advantages in writing very long dissertations? Well it depends on the reader. For a professor or for your adviser, the longer the dissertation is, the more way you can express the results of your research. Therefore, you can explain very well all the important details of your work. On the other hand, an ordinary student may not be too happy with multiple pages in a paper because they ten to get bored with it. Nevertheless, this is not always the case especially if a reader is interested with the topic.
