Structures of an APA Format Research Paper

An APA format research paper follows certain rules when it comes to writing a dissertation. When students are faced with the dilemmas of choosing undergraduate paper topics, GED essay topics or PhD subject interests, they become anxious whether they can write a good paper or not. However, time should not be wasted on those concerns. Writing in a format for a research paper is also important apart from choosing dissertation ideas.

An APA format research paper has a defined page style. This means that you must follow the correct pattern on how to arrange page numbers in your document. In this case you must write the title of your work at the upper right corner of each page in your dissertation. This is then followed by the corresponding page numbers. Please see the example below:

….Psychology of War (Title) 6 (Page Number)….

You should also understand that using the APA format research paper style will follow the in-text citation principles. You can do this by putting the entire sentence or phrase in your document. Afterwards you need to put the author’s last name followed by the date of his work’s publication in parentheses. You may put a comma between these details. How to write a literature review may encompass the in-text citation format in APA so you should always make it a point to use the style in this chapter. Below is an example of an in-text citation:

“Half of the US population believes in the existence of Aliens” (Garner, 2001).

In terms of dissertation titles, the APA format research paper does not have any restrictions. You can create a cover page and place the title in the upper portion of the paper and put it in the center. This information may be followed by your name just below the title. Some more information such as the professor’s name, subject and school year as well as the date can be put in block way below the cover page, also in a centered position.

There are other research paper formats that you can choose from. Make sure that you read the remaining entries in this blog site for your reference on writing research papers.
